Nirvana Island

I am not naive about the role and hardship of a homemaker and mother. But like all things in life, it can get dreary and uninspiring at times, especially when your angelic kid is screaming himself to sleep. So I always believe that it is all the more important to make time and space to pamper and look after one's good old self especially after marriage. There are many simple pleasures to choose from - retail or wine therapy, getting together with old pals, weekend getaway etc, basically anything that results in some form of relaxation and happiness. The whole idea is whatever you choose to indulge in, you can be happy in yourself. Oh yes, quite often we are so entrenched in our duties of a stereotypical mum, we forget how to enjoy and be happy in ourselves!

I was fortunate during this trip, to make the perfect get-away with my little angel Morgan and my best friend Susan, to Bintan Island, Nirwana Gardens. Thank you Aunty Susan for coming even though it was during the work week! The retreat was fantastic and very affordable - translating to approx £60 or S$180 for 3D2N in a deluxe beach-facing 4-star hotel, complete with a swimming pool bar and a big buffet breakfast every morning. It also includes our ferry fare to and from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal - 45 minutes each way - and coach to the hotel.

Our hotel room, complete with baby cot (but Morgan still prefers to squeeze with me in my bed). Also a hotel view and pool-cum-beach view.

We even treated ourselves to some mani&pedicuring complete with body massage while Morgan falls asleep in the spa parlour! *My life now feels complete!* As expected Morgan enjoyed the pool most and Nirwana Gardens is the only Bintan resort complete with a swimming pool!

The best thing about it was that the water temperature in the pool is so well-controlled that its never cold whatever the outside climate is. We also spent most of the afternoon playing in the sands and swinging on a hemmock. Dinner was great - with choices of local favourites and seafood at tourist prices but still cheap for British standards!

Ample space for beach play ....

Comments:
Hi Morgan, Auntie Ann here.

I think I have seen some pictures of your Daddy playing on the beach many, many, many years ago and the pictures look very similar to yours! Of course, there were no tropical trees in the background and I suppose the sand wasn't as fine or the sky not so blue but the expression of deep concentration on the face is unmistakable!

Glad you and Mummy had such a nice time.
